Elaine went for her gown fitting on Sunday...she and Flora were post call so they went home to sleep a while before the gown fitting appointment...which was at 3pm...i was having my afternoon nap as well... woke up half an hour before 3pm, after getting ready, rushed to the bridal studio at Lintas which was called All About Love...thought i was late, but as of Malaysian custom, everyone else was late too...about 5 mins later, Grace showed up...so we went into the shop and waited for the bride and groom and Flora to arrive...
They arrived about 10 mins later...and so we started browsing through the gowns...the shop didn't have that many choices...so we had to make do with what they had....we managed to narrow down to about 6 white gowns and 6 coloured gowns for Elaine to try...by this time, Siang Lin has disappeared off somewhere....so it was just up to us girls...we were totally having fun helping Elaine try out the gowns and help her choose...so she tried gown after gown...eventually we narrowed down 4 gowns for her photoshoot and 1 gown for her dinner reception...Really, Elaine is definitely no bride-zilla...coz we finished trying out the gowns and she decided on her choices within 2 hours...then it was Siang Lin's turn to try out his coats and pants...then we were watching dvds of other couples' photos while we waited for the tailor to alter 2 of her dresses as one was too loose and another was a little too tight...these are photos of post alteration....After we're done with her gown fitting, Elaine and I went to City Mall to check out the shoe shops coz she needed to buy her wedding heels....unfortunately, we didn't find any that really wowed us...so we went to 1B to have dinner and continue shopping for Siang Lin's shirt and Elaine's shoes...managed to buy the shirt...unfortunately, we still couldn't find the right pair of heels for Elaine...i guess she'll continue her shoe-hunt next weekend...
These are the thoughts, imaginations, ruminations, complaints, etc. about the life of a girl who thinks too much, whose imagination is too wild for her own good, who ruminates on her personal issues, who complains about her life (or the lack of it)....

The escortist...making a come back...
Yesterday was our whole day OT...long Mondays like these aren't exactly the cure for Monday blues... but around afternoon, a colleague called and asked if i could escort a patient to Selayang Hospital on Tuesday...i was a bit divided initially...coz i'm on call on Thursday which means i don't get to take the week off after i escort the patient...but since my colleague said there was no one else who could go, i guess the escortist needs to make a come back...
So i went for round as usual this morning...but i brought my overnight bag along since i was leaving with the ambulance...halfway through the round, suddenly i remembered that i forgot to bring my 'pas pekerja'...that would be a bit of a problem with the immigration...but it was too late to rush home to get it...so i left the hospital just slightly pass 8am with the patient and her husband...stopped by at Queen to pick up my ticket and off we went to the airport...
Checked-in and got my patient (on the wheelchair) into the boarding gate...thank God the immigration ppl didn't give me problem for checking in with my IC...so we waited for the time to board our flight...we were supposed to depart at 1045am...but as is expected of all Malaysian efficiency, our flight was delayed...reason being the one and only runway of KK International Airport is being closed for repair...apparently there's a hole somewhere along the runway...really, that's the first time i ever heard of such a thing happening...
So anyway, we had to wait...and i was praying real hard that my patient wouldn't develop difficulty in breathing coz until yesterday, she required oxygen support due to her right pleural effusion...but the primary team tapped her so they managed to wean her off oxygen...finally, close to 12pm, we boarded the plane...i was sleeping almost throughout the flight...except for meals and drinks...i felt pretty bad to be eating heartily in front of my patient but i really couldn't help myself...it was so bloody cold and i was bloody starving....
By the time we landed at KLIA, i had 29 missed calls...all from the Selayang Hospital staff nurse who might have been too worried she won't make it back in time for her pass over...anyway, when we reached Selayang, i was quite surprised to see one of my ex-specialist and an ex-colleague there in the ward...i kinda didn't realize that they would be there...so i waited for dad to come pick me up...got stuck in some massive jam all the way home...while i was sleeping rather uncomfortably in the car...
Still it's good to be able to drop by home and have dinner with my parents and siblings for one night...and it's a trip paid for...so i get to sleep one night at home...hehe, i'm beginning to think of my home as a hotel...oh, i just saw on FB that Khalil will be having a concert in NZ on 4th august...dang!!! i'm going to NZ the last week of august...:(...never mind...can't be attending too many of Khalil's concert in a year...

I've got my car back....:)
So i was lamenting about my 2nd car accident in 2 months about a few posts ago...and a friend recommended a mechanic to me, whom in turn recommended me to the mechanic next to his shop... and i was prepared for a heart attack when the guy said it was better to change the whole bonnet and front bumper...but he quoted to me a price that was even cheaper than the last time i fixed my car...
That was really a relieve coz i really couldn't afford to pay so much for my car...i was already preparing for the worst, which was to just drive around town with my deformed car the rest of my car's life...so anyway, the guy said i didn't have to leave my car in his workshop...he would call me when the spare parts arrive...initially he said he would get the pirated spare parts for me but then he said those were out of stocks and so he had to get original spare parts...which was still cheaper than what i paid for the last time...
So the guy called me on Friday to tell me the spare parts have arrived...so i took my car to his workshop around lunch time...and got my boss to bring me back to the hospital...initially the guy said he'll probably need till Tuesday to get my car ready....so i thought, dang, i'll be carless for the next 4 days...got locum Saturday evening, need to go for morning round and then church on Sunday...and then how to get to work on Monday and Tuesday without my car?
But really thank God...coz by this afternoon before my locum, the guy called and told me my car was ready...quite a shock but i wasn't about to complain...so asked Jasmine to drive me there to get my car...my car looked quite alright...so i paid the guy and drove home....totally relieved that my car problem is settled...hopefully the guy did a good job and my car won't fall apart anytime soon...
Anyway, praying really hard that i won't get into anymore accidents...

Scoped today...
Today was scope day...initially i planned to ask big big boss to do OGDS for me today...but since i wanted to do OGDS on patients so i thought i'd postpone it for another 2 weeks...coz boss came up with a good plan...the next 2 wednesday i'll be post call...and after the OGDS under sedation, i can ask big boss for pm off....hehe...
So i managed to do an OGDS for a patient...though my technique has much room for improvement... will practice more...we finished all the patients by 1030am...there was a 29 year-old lady whom we did colonoscopy on...she presented with PR bleed for 2 months and i saw her in the clinic...we found a tumour at her upper rectum...so i kinda got scared and paranoid...since i had been having chronic dyspepsia for 2 months...
So i told big boss that i better get scoped today...so after they sterilized the ultra-slim scope for me, big boss set a blue IV line for me...coz i insisted on sedation...so he gave me IV dormicum 3mg... the drug worked quite fast coz as soon as i said i wasn't sleepy yet i don't remember what happened after that...apparently i became very talkative after the dormicum (big boss said i kept saying i felt high, hahahaha) so big boss gave me IV pethidine 10mg and i totally slept off...thank God i didn't become violent after the loss of inhibition...
And apparently my BP dropped to 70+/50+mmHg after the sedation...so big boss gave me flumazenil to reverse the sedative effects after the procedure...and i woke up...but still a bit blur...big boss asked if i remembered anything...i said no...really didn't remember anything at all..they pushed me to the recovery to rest a while...after a while, they came to get me for lunch....i tried to sit up and felt a bit woozy...but still able to walk straight after a while...although i felt quite heavy and slow the rest of the day...
So my diagnosis is just pangastritis with H. pylori infection...so now i'm on esomeprazole, amoxycillin and clarithromycin...well, at least it wasn't anything sinister...thank God...i'll be taking lots of pills for the next 1 week...need to be compliant...if not big boss will say i'm naughty, hehe...

Banged my car...again...and got my new laptop...
I was post call on Friday...had quite a bad call on Thursday...finished OT about 4am...thought i'd get some sleep...but no...some guy had to get drunk and get into an accident...so had to see him at about 5am plus...and i didn't really sleep well while waiting for the case coz the stupid alarm in the MO call room was blaring again...urghh!!!!
So went to see the patient in casualty...then waited for boss to come see the patient...good thing didn't have to go in for laparotomy...so went back to sleep for about half hour before i had to get up and do morning rounds...then was in elective OT the whole morning...kept dozing off...after OT, still had afternoon rounds....by the time we were done, it was 5pm plus...
Had to send a colleague home coz her car couldn't start that morning...so was ok while driving her home...coz had someone to talk to...after sending her home, was caught in the jam...so i was dozing off...tried so hard to keep awake till i get home...but just couldn't...i must have dozed off before i hit the brake so i banged into the car in front of me...totally woke me up alright...i was like shit! shit! shit!! my car's bonnet and front bumper totally crumpled...but fortunately the other car was a Kembara and nothing happened to the back of the car...the lady came out and asked me what happened? i was like...really sorry but i fell asleep...she looked so shocked...
Anyway, rest assured i was quite awake the rest of the way home...i was so tired...and so emotionally distraught...i didn't know whether to laugh or cry at my misfortune...i just wanted to sleep...so in the end i cried myself to sleep...was awakened by a phone call...it was the delivery guy...delivering my new laptop....so i gave him the directions to my place...
I was quite happy earlier when i got a msg telling me my dell laptop would be delivered to me on Friday....but that was before my accident...so when i opened my new laptop, i wasn't as excited as i should have been...but it was still a consolation...my new purple dell laptop...:)...thanks for the gift...:)
Spent the whole day sleeping after i came back from morning round today...boss called about lunch time...i guess he found out that i banged my car again...i guess he empathizes with my misfortune since he banged his car last Saturday as well...he asked if i needed any assistance...i was like, er no need lah..my car still can run...just that it's deformed...i was thinking he doesn't even have his own car now, how exactly is he going to assist me? hehe...
Ok, gonna meddle with my new gadget...it's so cool...it had a facial recognition feature that recognizes my face for fast log in....hehehe...will put up some pics soon...
