Khalil has a new song....:)

Yes!!! Finally....Khalil has a new song...:)...been waiting for his new song...it feels like ages...but as usual...Khalil never disappoints...his new song 因为你 is an upbeat easy listening catchy tune...with interesting lyrics...he wrote this song for the ppl who've asked him where he gets his inspiration from...he said he got the inspiration for this song from the ppl who kept questioning about his source of inspiration...and this song is dedicated to these ppl...quite a sense of humour huh?

Anyway, love his music...always....his music always brings a smile on my face...without fail...can't wait for his new album...i must say i've been trying to listen to some of Van Ness Wu's songs...but they just don't give me the same feeling as Khalil's...guess J-Pop and hip hop just aren't my thing...

So, here's a link to Khalil's new song...and the lyrics with translation...

My best birthday present ever...

So i was up in Genting on Saturday for Khalil's Timeless in Malaysia concert....Mom and Petrina went up with me...I got up about lunch time, finished packing and went for lunch...Dad dropped us off at KL Sentral to get the bus up to Genting...but all the tickets were sold out and the earliest bus we could get was at 4pm...i was like dang!!! so we called the Gombak station to ask if there were still tickets for the 2pm bus...thank God they still had tickets....so we took the LRT to Terminal Putra to catch the 2pm bus...

Mom met a friend in the bus...when we reached the Awana Skyway, the queue was so ridiculously long that i thought we'd never make it up to Genting...but God really provided a smooth passageway for us coz Mom's friend had this Genting member card that allowed us to go into the express lane...so we were checked into our hotel room about 330pm...Mom and Petrina went roaming around while i rested in the room...

Started preparing for the concert at 5pm...was ready by 6pm...then went for dinner with Mom and Petrina...was waiting for the HK girl Karen to appear...by 730pm she still hasn't reach the Arena of Stars...and it was raining cats and dogs earlier...i was quite worried that she would be late for the concert...but thankfully she reached at about 750pm...so i gave her the ticket, collected the money and went into the concert hall...

The concert hall was pretty packed already by the time we went in...the concert didn't start too late... at 815pm, Andrew Tan (Malaysian singer) came out as the opening act...he sang one of his new song "Tian Hou"...and then Khalil came on stage and the crowd (including yours truly) went wild...hehe...this time round, he sang more English songs...totally loved his Stevie Wonder impersonation...he sang his favourites like "Superstitious", "Sir Duke"...even put on his shades...

Khalil played a lot of guitar, quite a bit of the keyboard and the grand piano...he even did some drums for his encore...i just love Khalil on the piano...too bad the piano was at the other corner of the stage...so could hardly see him when he was playing the piano...even Edward Chan played the piano...but i can't seem to remember which song he played...Khalil played and sang on the piano a few songs..."Nan Yin", "Ji De" and Singalong Song...

I was screaming and hooting like a crazy infatuated teenager throughout the concert...i think i totally irked the aunty who was sitting beside me...not to mention i was singing along with Khalil...of course when he walked towards my side of the stage i went wild...hehe...first row seat is really a whole new experience...when Khalil ended his repertoire with his song "Sorry", i was like what? NOOO!!!! don't!!! of course he came back on stage for his encore...but really, almost 3 hours of Khalil is still too little...of course as usual, he kept forgetting his lyrics...but it's still cool...

I saw Hermond (Warner Music Malaysia's GM) and Howard (also from Warner Music Malaysia) during and after the concert...but i guess they weren't going to ask me to go for the celebration party...so sad...wished i had the "All Access" pass...then i could have gone backstage to see Khalil...but in all, it was still my best birthday present ever...:) anyway, Petrina told me The Star reviewed his concert...here's the link to the article..

My 1st row ticket...:)

Another courier came for me today...of course i've been expecting it all day...i'm actually on call today...but at least the expectation of my parcel made that more bearable...had quite a few referrals...but otherwise i wasn't too busy...the courier guy called me about lunch time that he was at my house but of course no one was at home...so i asked him if he could deliver it to the hospital... so at about 355pm, Fanny, boss' PA called me saying that there was a parcel for me at the office...
Totally brightened my day...quickly went to get it and opened it...YES!!! my 1st row ticket to Khalil's Timeless in Malaysia concert...and 2 of Khalil's concert posters..:) i just checked the seat plan...my seat is actually quite to the left corner of the stage...but it doesn't matter...it's still 1st row...hopefully the grand piano which Khalil will play on is on the left side of the stage...then i'll get to see him better...hehe...

So now i actually have an extra VIP ticket to the concert...i put a comment on one of Khalil's FB fan page to ask if anyone was interested to buy the ticket...it's RM323...13th row from the stage...right of the stage...nearer to the centre than my VVIP seat...and believe it or not, a girl from HK actually messaged me on FB and said she was interested to go for the concert...Khalil really has very willing fans...anyway, she hasn't really got back to me to confirm if she really wanted the ticket...so if you're a Khalil fan, and you're quite desperate for a VIP ticket, please leave your email address in your comment....i'll get back to you asap...

Ice cream and 1st row ticket....

Yesterday was Mother's day...but i wasn't back at home to celebrate it with mom...but i did call her after i came back from church...we celebrated all the mothers at church during church service...and Pastor Kee Chuan prayed for the mothers and future mothers (i.e. those who plan to be mothers)....i cried...was quite touched with the prayer...and was wondering if i'll ever get a chance to be a mother...

I brought one of my HO to church with me...so after church, we went for lunch...Eric and Becky joined us too...then i came home, talked to mom a while...she was telling me about Sylvia's stint at the drama class...then i slept for 4 hours...ah..nice 'cat' nap....then i messaged Eric if he was still up for ice-cream coz earlier we wanted to go for ice-cream but Eric said i looked damn sleepy so i was hushed home...i had instant noodles for dinner since i was too lazy to go out to get dinner...Eric came to pick me up and we went to Vedablu at City Mall for ice-cream...i had Belgian chocolate and banana...and he had banana and strawberry...

Today started out like any usual Monday...with the blues...but just before lunch i got a msg that totally made my day...i was getting a 1st row seat ticket to Khalil's Timeless in Malaysia concert...aaaaahhhh!!!! just couldn't help grinning like an idiot....it's really gonna be my best birthday present ever...really appreciate the effort of the person who bought me the ticket..thank you...i'll be in cloud nine for the next couple of days...hehe...

The trouble i went through for Khalil...

Today was supposed to be a good day...coz it was the day i bought Khalil's concert ticket...boss actually allowed me to go off for a while after lunch to get the ticket...so i was happily driving to the place which sold Khalil's concert ticket...had a little trouble finding the place...so i had to take a big detour to get back to the place...on the way, while i was turning into the main road, i banged into a truck in front of me...i wasn't paying attention to the truck in front coz i was looking at the oncoming cars...anyway, i didn't see any cars so i thought can go lor...then bang!!! apparently the truck in front hasn't turn out...dang!!! the front of my car was quite totalled...thank God nothing happened to me... i didn't even feel the impact...i only heard the sound...as if it was from another car...

Got a good scolding from the truck owner...despite my profuse apologies and pledge that i would pay for his truck's damage...all the while i was thinking my car suffered worse damage than his truck...but well, it was my fault for driving straight into his truck...he even took photos of my car...and i...so scared i'd run off on him...so after i gave him my number (and address) and paid rm100 as deposit for the guy's truck damage, i drove my wrecked car to Tembok Besar...the travel agency which was selling Khalil's concert ticket...managed to find it...only to find out that the nearest seat i could get was the 13th row from the stage...

My heart sank...i was hoping that they'd be selling vvip tickets as well...that's like the first 5 rows from the stage...i would have been willing to pay more for the vvip seats...but those weren't on sale..crap!!! and since i didn't have cash and the agency didn't accept debit card, i had to walk a good 5 mins to the nearest ATM to withdraw money...so finally i bought my Khalil's concert ticket...i should be over the moon...but the occasion has been marred by an unfortunate accident...

Now i'll be rm2000 poorer after my car is fixed..more since i have to pay for the truck's damage as well...and i'll be crippled without a car for the next few days...and i'm on call in Queen on Friday...the mechanic said my car can only be ready on Saturday...sigh...i know i shouldn't complain...since it's my own fault..and i should really thank God that i wasn't hurt physically...i guess i'd be consoled a little if by some miracle i managed to get my hands on a vvip ticket....and perhaps a chance to be at his celebration party (like when i was at Khalil's concert in Taiwan)...yea, i know...wishful thinking... but a girl can hope yea?

Khalil is having his concert in Malaysia!!!! AAAAHHH!!!!!

OMG!!!! This is too good to be true....i just found out that Khalil will be having a concert in Malaysia on 29 May...i wish it was on 28 May instead but one can't really ask for too much yea? it will still be my best birthday present ever...well, i'll just have to make sure i get the first row ticket....and this time must make better preparation...oh, i do wish they have radio contests to win tickets to the concert and backstage passes or something like that...oh gosh!!!i think i'll be on cloud nine the whole year round...my dream is coming true again!!!!

Need to contact some people from Warner to see if there's any chance i could get complimentary tickets...hehe...maybe that's a bit stretching it...but it's always worth a try...anything to be as close to Khalil...hahahaha...gosh!!! i'm sounding demented....i just can't help myself...i don't think there's anyone else who can get me as excited as Khalil...as i've said before...and i'll say it again...his music touches my soul!!!

Anyway, on another note, i've finally managed to start working out again today....after what felt like ages...it felt good to work out again...though i'm a lot less fit than i used to be...but i still managed to keep up on my elliptical trainer for 1/2 hour...not too bad lah...need to keep up the good work...at least until after my birthday...hehe...now i have a new motivation to keep working out...can't be looking plumpy when i see Khalil again...

I think i'll be grinning like Cheshire while i'm sleeping tonight...ahhh...the little joys in life that make life a little more bearable and less mundane....

Taipei - Day 3

Slept about 3am this morning...and woke up at 545am...i guess i was totally drained after a whole night of adrenaline rush...finished up some last minute packing...good thing still could stuff everything into my suitcase...checked out of the hotel and was on the bus to the airport by 640pm...reached the airport and checked in for our flight...there were 6 of us flying back...3 of the reporters, Royce (of MYFM), Cam and i....

We went into the departure hall to do some duty free shopping...bro asked me to buy back some ice wine...got a pack of 3 bottles for NTD2980...totally used up the last of my NTDs...Cam finally bought her first Coach wristlet...it was cheaper than in Malaysia airport...she was so happy...and then we rushed to the boarding gate coz we were almost late...girls and shopping...

I totally knocked out for the whole flight...we departed at 940am...only got up when they served lunch... then was watching a German show "Vitus"...it's about a young musical prodigy who is also a total genius...who ended up helping his father buy over the company which fired his father... definitely the child of every parents' dream..hehe...then slept some more till we landed in KLIA...

Took the KLIA transit home..Dad picked me from the station..got home and slept till evening...i think i used up all my adrenaline store..felt totally physically drained...tomorrow will fly back to KK...back to real life..and my Taipei weekend will only be a sweet memory...well, at least i've ticked off no. 3 on my things do to before i die list...now i'm one step closer to dying fulfilled..

Taipei - Day 2 - Khalil's Timeless Live in Taipei Concert

We got back to the hotel about 445pm...took an express bath, put on some make up, changed and blew dry my hair...in about 40 mins, according to Cam...that's actually considered fast yea? since most girls would actually take hours...Cam actually asked me if i've ever taken so much pains in preparing for my dates with my previous boyfriends...i was like...er...no wonder i'm still single then..hahahaha...i mean, the guys i used to go out with, the places we went for dates, didn't really require any make-ups or nice outfits...unless it was on special occasions lah...anyway, who wears a dress for a walk in the park (unless you're in the 15th century) or a mountain climb or a jog?

We went down to wait for the bus at about 530pm...which took us to the National Taiwan University Sports Complex..don't ask me exactly where it was...i have no idea...they were selling Khalil merchandise so i couldn't help but buy some stuffs...bought Khalil's Timeless CD + DVD (signed), a collection of guitar picks representing his 5 albums, and a pendrive-keyring..which has a K on it...got 2 of his posters for free too..:)

We waited for our tickets for quite some time...was getting worried that maybe there wasn't any tickets for us after all...paranoid me...but eventually we got our tickets...Cam and i went to the toilet before we went into the concert hall...so i was in the toilet cubicle...and there was this button which said 'push'...there were some Chinese writings around it which i couldn't read...so after i was done, i pressed the 'push' button...thinking it was the flush button...bloody hell!! it turned out to be an alarm...so the whole place was ringing with the alarm that i activated...shit!!! why do i always end up doing embarassing things like that? sigh...
why can't they put a sign in English to let non-Chinese reading ppl know that it's a bloody alarm button? and why do you need an alarm button in each of the toilet cubicle anyway? in case you fell into the toilet bowl? gosh!! really need to buck up on my Chinese...got the 'stare' from one of the lady organizer who came in to ask what happened...ugh!! totally embarassed myself...

So Cam and i went into the concert hall..found our seats...we were seated 9th row from the stage...the hall was huge...perfect for a huge concert ;)...the concert the night before was a full house...which was why we could only get tickets for the Sunday concert...fine by me...but my camera couldn't get nice shots of Khalil on stage..coz the
images were too small and blurred... anyway, as usual, we were told we can't take photos or film any part of the concert...like anyone heeded that...the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation as everyone waited for Khalil to appear on stage...

Khalil came on stage about 740pm...he started the ball rolling with his cover version of MJ's "Bad"...which was bearable...but i couldn't stop laughing coz i was reminded of John's reaction towards Khalil's "Bad" version..hahahaha...but seriously, it wasn't too "bad"...;P...he continued with "1234567" from his Orange Moon album...he played the electric guitar well but his voice sounded pitchy...he then explained that he caught a cold the night before..poor Khalil, must have been sick and tired..all is forgiven...next he sang "Ru Guo Ai"...this was the song that really got me to notice his music...so unorthodox of the typical Chinese Music...

Then he went to the grand piano and sang "Ji De"...i love this song...but that night the sound system was a bit too blaring...when Khalil sang "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You", i was suddenly overwhelmed by an avalanche of emotions...i cried...after all, this song got me here...next was "Chun Feng Chui" on the acoustic guitar...very nicely done...he also covered MJ's Billie Jean and Who is it?...thank God Khalil didn't do his MJ moonwalk dance thingy...urgh!! if there was one thing that i couldn't stand, it was that...he continued on with "Singer and Model", a song from his This Love album...it was fun and light...still on the acoustic, he sang "Mei Ge Ren Dou Hui" or "Love in this World", a song which he wrote for the Cartier Love Project...really like this song a lot..

He then went to the keyboard, put on his shades and covered Stevie Wonder's Superstition and Sir Duke...he really enjoyed himself impersonating Stevie...Stevie would have been proud if he was there..Khalil returned to the grand piano and sang "Nan Ying"...it was really awesome watching a spectacular display of his piano playing skills...Cam said Khalil lacked in facial expression...but i think that his music is the expression of his soul...his voice expresses his soul...who needs facial expression? Then he went on to sing "Love Song"..one of my must sing karaoke session song..hehe...next was a cover version of Faye Wong's "Red Bean"...i definitely like Khalil's version better...

He did a very different version of Ray Charles' "Georgia on My Mind" by playing it on the electric guitar..very Khalil-styled...but still soulful...he sang Moon River...but his voice sounded rough...i think i preferred the album version...when he sang Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight", i almost swooned..it was totally wonderful...if only he was singing it to me..hahaha..wishful thinking!!! Then he sang a duet with Xiao Jin Teng (of some Taiwanese idol search fame)...Khalil wrote a song called "Say a Lil' Something" for Jin Teng...then he moved back to the grand...started saying about a song he wrote about a friend's friend...a very touching story...the song was "San Ren You"..and he continued with "Ai Wo Ba"...both are very touching romantic ballads...

Khalil then sang "Hei Bai" and then "Let's Stay Togethe
r"..not sure whose song was this...he then moved on to more upbeat songs from his Wonderland album..."Gong Yuan", "Love Actually" (this one's from his 2nd album) and "Jian Dan Zui Lang Man"...really love the lyrics to this song...one of the line goes "say 'I Do' in the church"..hahaha..wishful thinking again....he went back to the grand to finish up with "Wei Lai"... said his credits halfway...and finished with a bang!!! of course i stood up and hooted and clapped for an encore...though i've been hooting, cat calling and screaming his name throughout the concert...hehe...

He came back on stage for encore...played solo drums...then broke into his version of La Bamba...i can't say it's better than the original..but it's an interesting version...then he sang Stevie Wonder's "You are the Sunshine of My Life"...again, he would have made Stevie proud...halfway through the song, he came down from the stage..and everyone at the front went wild and rushed to get closer to him...i too, rushed to the front, managed to get a clear pic, but it wasn't too close up... then he sang his "Singalong Song"...at this, Cam was elated...coz she could finally singalong...hahaha...then it was "Ai Ai Ai"...the song which got him famous...next was "Mei Tian Mei Tian"...from his first album...love this song...then Khalil said, "I'm sorry but this is the last song" before singing "Sorry"... really like this song a lot too...and i was really sorry that the concert was over...after 35 songs and about 3 hours of Khalil, i still couldn't get enough of him...

But of course my night of all time high was far from over....we were going to his celebration party!!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!! Yes, my chance to meet Khalil up close!!!! Our bus sent us to this place called KiKi Restaurant...its logo had a cat on it..how appropriate ;)....we were seated upstairs...they served plenty of food but i could hardly eat despite that i hadn't had a proper meal since breakfast... i was awaiting with anticipation for Khalil to appear...Hermond and Howard (of Warner Music) were teasing me about Khalil...Howard asked if i cried during the c
oncert..i told him..yea, i did...when Khalil sang "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You"...he laughed and said, bet you perasan he was singing for you...i said, no lah...but i was definitely singing for him....and Hermond asked why i didn't buy any gift for Khalil...and i said, actually, i almost bought him a couple ring...yea, like real...getting delusional here...

Suddenly, Khalil walked pass our table and said hello (to Howard)...and i turned around and said hi...with my eyes lit up like a happy puppy who has been just given a bone...but of course he didn't notice me lah..no actually, he did look my way, but perhaps he didn't like what he saw...so he quickly averted his gaze...sigh....Khalil went from table to table to be interviewed by the reporters... I asked Howard if i could take a personal photo with Khalil when he came over to our table..he said that usually the organizers won't allow...i was so crushed...i almost cried...he walked pass our table a few times and i could only gaze at him...sigh..so near, yet so
far...

Finally Khalil came over to our table...he sat at the opposite end from where i was sitting...so while he was being interviewed by the Malaysian reporters, i was trigger happy, snapping photos of him...Cam came up with this idea of sneaking a close up photo with him...so i snuck over to the end where Khalil was sitting and Cam quietly took pics of us...hahahaha...desperate times need desperate measures...after the interview, i asked Khalil to sign my Timeless Album...he signed it, but wrote an extra 'e' in my name...oh well, at least now he'll always remember how to spell the name Kathleen, i hope...and the organizer actually allowed me to take an up close photo with Khalil..bless her!! that was the whole reason of my being in Taipei...i couldn't stop giggling after that...hahahaha...Cam wanted Khalil to sign her eye mask...initially the organizer didn't allow but since Khalil is super nice, he signed it anyway...

Cam found a new crush in the form of Edward Chan...Khalil's band leader/keyboardist/music producer...the whole night during the concert, i think her eyes were more on Edward than Khalil, hehe...Edward Chan is an amazingly talented pianist/keyboardist...and very cute (according to Cam)...he was seated at the table behind us with the other band members...and Cam was stealing glances at him the whole time...hahahaha...i quote Cam, "he looked like a father of 2 on stage, but now he looks so cute, so fair..."...so i ensured that Cam marched over to his table and took a photo with him...she also got him to sign her eye mask...Cam was so impressed with his signature that she was admiring it before she slept that night...hahahahaha...

So anyway, like all dreams, wonderful and sweet as they may be, they're also fleeting...it was time to leave Khalil and return to our hotel...i gave Khalil one last longing gaze and that was the last i saw of him...sigh...you know? it actually feels worse to return to reality and normality from an all time high, than sinking into major depression from an already depressive life...still, my dream of watching Khalil Fong in concert and taking a personal photo with him has come true...and now it's time to move on with my life...but i know that tonight's memory will always remind me of how good God has been to me...

Taipei - Day 2 - Shopping

We woke up about 830am, got ready and went up to the 12th floor for our buffet breakfast..food's not too bad...so we filled up our tummy so that we would have enough energy for our whole day shopping...after that, the 2 girl reporters (Chai Hoon and Khai Li) and their friend, plus Cam and I went out together...our 1st stop was Taipei 101...so we took an MRT from Ximen Station (which was just 10 mins walk from the hotel) to Taipei City Hall Station...cost us NTD25 each...when we came to the surface, it was raining...we waited for the free shuttle bus that would take us to Taipei 101...but it was windy and the rain was splashing onto us...so we took the first bus that came along..paid NTD15 for it..only to find out that we could have walked to Taipei 101..it was just round the corner from the station..crap!! oh well, most girls don't like the idea of getting rained down...and i didn't wanna catch a cold before Khalil's concert...
We actually kind of 'touch and go' Taipei 101...took some pics..looked around the mall..Cam saw a Coach boutique and went in...price about the same in KL..we didn't manage to go up the observatory tower coz the girls were in a hurry to go shopping at WuFenBu Commercial Zone... we took a cab there coz the girls didn't wanna get drenched as it was still raining...cost us NTD135..not too bad...so anyway, WuFenBu is actually a wholesale shopping area...full of shops along the streets...

We started our bargain hunt from 1130am till 2pm...this time round, Cam and i bought more clothes and stuffs...i guess we were beginning to adapt to the style that is Taipei...i ended up buying 5-6 more tops..a belt..and a scarf...and the stuffs are definitely cheaper if compared to Malaysia...RM20-40 for stuffs you can only get at RM50-100 in Malaysia...after few hours of hard core shopping (which actually isn't enough to cover the whole place), we stopped for some snacks before we went back to the hotel...drank their bubble tea...ate Taiwanese pancakes, Taiwan style roti canai and fried dumplings...took the MRT from HouShanPi station back to Ximen Station (NTD30)...

We were all desperate to answer nature's call but the toilet in the MRT stations were full of people as well..it was like suddenly, the whole of Taipei became nature lovers...urgh!! and a distended bladder is really the worst thing to endure...luckily, we found a McDonald's along Ximen Ding...even that also we needed to queue up...but finally, we were relieved...phew!!! so, since we had time and there was no longer any 'urgency' to get back to the hotel, we continued shopping around Ximen Ding...wanted to get a paired keychain for Khalil...but couldn't find a suitable pair...oh well, i supposed it's better this way...prevents any future delusions...hahaha...

Taipei - Day 1

So i got up about before 10am on Saturday morning...Mom and Dad cooked asam laksa so i just had to have that for brunch before i leave for the airport...after checking that i've got everything (essentials included my Khalil's Timeless album, besides passport and flight itinerary, hehe), Dad drove me to OUG to meet up with Cam and her bf, Han Kee...Han Kee drove us to the airport, with the help of his pirated GPS while we listened to Khalil's Orange Moon album in his car...apparently Han Kee was very excited about Cam attending Khalil's concert that he downloaded the whole Orange Moon album to let Cam listen...and he kept playing 'Singalong Song' over and over till Cam's quite sick of it.. hahaha...

We reached KLIA close to 1pm...waited for the guy from Warner Music whom we were supposed to meet...his name's Howard...about 115pm, Howard appeared with a few other people...his GM, Hermond and 3 reporters from the Malaysia Chinese dailies...so we checked in for our flight...oh, we were flying Eva Air...then Cam and i went to the satellite terminal and walked around...she saw some Coach bags which she liked a lot...i told her, we'll check how much it costs in the Taipei airport...

We boarded our plane at about 3pm...and our flight took off about 325pm...quite on time...was so glad we weren't flying Air Asia...so we had free inflight entertainment...finally watched Ice Age 3...it was funny...but really not an Ice Age fan so don't see the big deal of it...then watched My Sister's Keeper, adapted from Jodi Picoult's same titled novel...which i incidentally brought along in case i had time to read...managed to finish the movie few minutes before we landed on Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei at about 750pm...it was raining...after getting our luggage, we sailed through immigration and went out to look for our pick up...initially, we didn't see anyone...eventually Howard found the guy...so we boarded a chartered bus which took us to the Riverview Hotel about 1 hour away...

We checked in and went to our respective rooms...well, it wasn't exactly how it looked like on their hotel website but hey, it's still nice...plus...it's free..so no complains there...the whole bunch of us took a cab to the Shi Lin Night Market...it was already after 10pm when we reached the place but it was so happening...it's like Petaling Street except the fashion is definitely more recent i supposed... we tasted the Taiwanese snacks...the Taiwanese sausages...pancakes...but not the stinky tofu though...i didn't want to waste them in case i didn't like them, since Cam wouldn't want to eat them...

We tried to shop...since the girl reporters told us the clothes, bags and stuffs are cheaper than in Malaysia and there are styles we can't get in Malaysia...unfortunately, Cam and i had problem settling into the streetwear trend...not exactly our style..so i ended up buying a bling t-shirt which wasn't too bling..and a dress that's quite suitable for my future beach holiday...but we walked around till 1am anyway...so many things to see..and eat..hehe...finally took a cab back to the hotel...bathed...and read a little...i know i've watched the movie but i still wanted to read the original novel version...just to see how much Hollywood has distorted the whole book...i fell asleep after the 3rd chapter...guess a 4 1/2 hours flight and a night at the pasar malam does wear one out...

I don't know what to wear...

Right...i'm still up packing...i don't know what to wear for Khalil's concert...i didn't feel like i should get a new dress/outfit just for Khalil's concert...but right now i wish i did....hahaha...i don't think i've ever felt this way when i was going out on dates...but then again (for the record), my dates have been sparse... almost towards the 'nil' extreme...;P

Geesh! it's not like he'll even get to see me in my outfit, whatever it might be...i already packed 2 sets of outfit...i'll parade it for Cam and asked her which one looks better when we're in Taipei...if none looks good, then i hope i have time to get something in Taipei...urgh!!!

Anyway, tonight i finally got to test drive Jasmine's new Camry...i must say, it's definitely a new experience...i've never driven a big, new car....and the interior was so cool...Elaine, Siang Lin and i were like 'suakus'...pressing the buttons and trying out the gadgets...keyless engine start...a hand-brake where the clutch would have been (in a manual)...buttons for almost everything...so cool!!! i felt like i was in some star-trek spaceship...hahaha...and i didn't even realize i was driving too fast...

I think all this excitement is keeping me up...i still need to work later...and need to get up early to send Elaine and Siang Lin to the airport...my flight back to KL is this evening...i don't know if popping a piriton would help...i need to sleep, i need to sleep....

Taiwan, here I come!!!!

"Oh my God!!" That was the reply from Cam when i messaged her that "I won!!"...hahahaha....sorry, this is going to happen every now and then from now onwards...coz i'm really over the moon at the moment...YES!!! I won the tickets to Khalil Fong's Timeless Concert live in Taipei!!!! hahahaha...

I'm post call today...and i got back home just before 10am to sit by the radio to listen to the announcement of the winner for the contest i joined last week...but since my radio is just beside my bed and when i'm post call my bed just looks especially inviting, so i lied down while waiting for the announcement....the girl from the radio station told me they'd announce the winner at 10am...but i think i must have dozed off by about 1030am...post call mah!!

Suddenly i was awakened my Phoebe's voice (the DJ)...i heard her announcing my full name...twice!!! i didn't hear what she said before that...but i definitely heard my name, unless i'm beginning to have auditory hallucination and grandiose delusion...hahahaha....i was still a bit dazed initially...but it eventually sank in...I won!! I won!!! So i messaged John and Cam...Cam called me and said i've cured her off her depression....well, i guess a paid trip to Taipei (even if it's for 3 days only and even if she had to endure through Khalil Fong's concert) will definitely cure her depression more effectively than Sertraline or Fluvoxamine...hahahaha....

This is really amazing!!! I'm still amazed that i actually won...God is so good to me...really, He loves me too much!! and i'm getting no. 3 on my "10 things to do before i die" list ticked...that's one down, 9 to go....hahahaha....thank You, Lord...thank You, Lord...i don't know if i can still sleep...but when i do, i'll definitely be smiling in my sleep tonight...:)

I got through!!!

So i was listening to myfm while chatting with John and Cam online...i thought the cue to call was never going to happen...oh before that, gotta tell what Cam and i chat about....so i said hi to Cam on windows messenger...and she asked, "wanna go taiwan next week?"...i was like, hey, i was planning to go to Taiwan next week too...if i got the tics to Khalil's concert in Taipei lah...hahaha...it's like God-sent...

Anyway, about almost 11pm, the cue to call came on....and i was like grabbing my phone and started dialing the myfm no....1st attempt..busy..2nd attempt...still busy...i was like, WTH?!!? cannot be so fast got other ppl got through right?...so i kept trying...4th attempt...i heard ringing tone...I GOT THROUGH!!!! the adrenaline rush left me trembling...i couldn't speak properly...and i had to speak in Mandarin...good thing Jason (the DJ) was nice enough to help me through with the tag line...gosh!! it was really a mouthful...got that over..then it was time to sing an excerpt of one of Khalil's songs...the first song that came to my mind was "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You"...so i sang that one...

After Jason got my details and all...i put down the phone and i couldn't stop giggling to myself..hahaha...it was like reliving my 'Gary Barlow' moments all over again...then i switched on the radio again and heard myself on the radio...hmmm...i sounded weird on the radio...but i think i didn't sing out of tune lah...hehe...now i have to pray really hard and keep my fingers crossed...that when they announced the lucky winner who will be getting the tickets to Khalil's concert in Taipei, it will be my name...still got another long week to go before next Monday....argh!!! the agony of waiting....

I don't know if i can sleep tonight...or if i can keep a straight face when i'm on call later...it'd just be so like me to break out into an idiot grin for no reason...hahaha....oh gosh!!! God is so good to me...thank You, Lord!!!

Chance to watch Khalil live in Taipei!!!

SQUEAL!!!! Just heard a wonderful news on the radio while i was bathing!!! There's a competition to win tickets to Khalil's Timeless Live in Taipei concert going on this whole week...oh gosh!!!! i'm hyperventilating....having palpitations...i think my pupils are dilated too....hahaha...adrenaline rush!!!

Oh Lord, you're really too good to me....now i only need to get through to the radio station when i hear the cue to call...please please please let me get through!!!! this is like a chance of a lifetime....hahaha, listen to me...acting like some high school girl again...what is it about Khalil that can reduce me to such a state? hmmm, i'm sure all of his Malaysian fans are in such a frenzy state too...some of whom would be sitting beside the radio waiting for the hourly cue to call everyday for the next 5 days...

Anyway, i'm post call today...had a relatively good call yesterday i.e. no admissions, patients were fairly stable...but instead of sleeping while i could, i was chatting online...and then one of the nurse left a webpage on wedding gowns open...i browsed a while and then got hooked...i'm a sucker for wedding gowns...something about beautiful white gowns that appeal to me...so i slept around 5am...thought it'd be a good call all the way till 8am...but something just has to happen whenever i'm on call...

Got a call from the ortho HO at about 6am...49 year-old guy...post op about 3 hours bilateral hand fasciotomy for hand compartment syndrome...apparently he was cleaning some fish 2 days ago and injured his fingers...have no idea what kind of fish that can cause such bad infection and sepsis...when i saw the patient, he was having acidotic breathing...confused and disorientated... basically on the verge of collapse...couldn't detect his saturation coz his peripheries were cold...BP lowish...ABG showed severe metabolic acidosis incompatible with life...pH 6.89 bicarb 8 BE -26... i'm amazed he was actually well pre and post-op...why didn't he wait till 8am to get that acidotic? asked the HO to give 200ml of bicarb stat...his ABG improved a bit after that..but still acidotic...

So i had to intubate the patient...good thing BP didn't crash with midaz..but the guy was a difficult intubation..or maybe my skills are just deteriorating...but thank God i managed to get the tube in on the second attempt...blindly...phew!!! had to admit ICU...by the time patient reached ICU, it was almost 8am...thank God the on call and in-charge MOs came to my rescue...but we had problem getting the arterial line...and he only had on large bore branulla on the external jugular vein (the one i put in after i intubated the patient)..his other line was a pink one on his right leg...

I handed over the case and the other cases to the MO on call today and came home to crash...don't know if the uncle will make it through tonight...he was so septic that we had to start on double inotropes before i left....oh well, on call again tomorrow...we'll see how it goes...

Live...at T Music Festival...

Finally i've experienced my first ever pop concert in my entire existence...and T Music Festival was great!!! great is really an understatement but it's almost 4am and the part of the brain that controls my vocabulary must be asleep now...anyway, the show started quite on time...it was 7.10pm when the MCs came out to announce the commencement of the party...it is now raining as i'm typing this and i thank God that it didn't rain throughout the 6 hours plus show...God's timing is great huh?

I took the LRT to bukit jalil stadium coz i thought driving there would be an insane idea...reached there about 6.20pm...i walked towards the stadium and saw many ppl who were already there.. went to the ticket counter to ask where was the rm268 tics entrance coz i didn't see any sign...ended up going in through the wrong entrance..had to be escorted to the other entrance..the vip entrance..hehe..my seat was row M seat 16...M16...;) it was at the end of the row next to the stairs...quite middle...so i had a great view...oh, and i found out what T stood for...Tiger..as in the beer...coz Tiger was one of the sponsor...smart move huh?

The show started with Andrew Tan (Malaysia)..then Rickman Sie (Malaysia)...then a singaporean singer..next up was James (Thailand)...never really knew what was so great about him except that maybe he looked a bit like Wang Leehom (from afar)...then it was ManHand (Malaysia)...the basist actually looked quite cute, hehe...Soler (Hong Kong) came next...never heard of them...but they were quite the rock band...then it was another Hongkie singer, Hoi Meng Wai...and some pretty boy Hongkie singer who's quite forgettable...

Up next, Power Station (Taiwan)...another rock band...and they sang quite long...but their songs are quite cool...then it was Liu Li Yang (China)...really like her "Yan Lei Xiao Le"...but her outfit was pretty hideous...when Chin (Thailand ) came onto stage and started performing, suddenly the whole stadium blacked-out...and then there was smoke coming from the power source...somebody overloaded the power system i guess...we had to wait for more than half-hour before the electricity came back on...and i was so worried that they'd cancelled the concert...coz Khalil hasn't performed yet at that time...oh no!!! but the MCs and some of the singers entertained us while they were fixing the power...Justin (HK), Khalil, Kay Tse (HK), David Tao (Taiwan), Sam Lee and Z-Chen (Malaysia) came out to sing acapella using a hailer...that kept the crown happy for a while...thank God for His kindness coz the lights came back on...phew!!! the show is back on the road...

So Chin performed...his signature "Yu Jian Ni", the sony cybershot Skinny T theme song or something like that...then it was some Malaysian female singer singing some irritating songs...but when the next Malaysian male singer came up, both of them dueted JJ Lin's song "Xiao Jiu Wo", which i like...then it was the moment i've been waiting for...Khalil came on stage...woohoo!!!! i went down the stairs to get a closer look...wanted to film his performance but the stupid organizers and rela ppl won't allow...party-poopers!!! so i ended up just gazing at Khalil from afar (not unlike some love-lorn teenager, hehe)...he sang "Ai Ai Ai", Singalong Song, Love Song and Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You...he didn't sing Wonderful Tonight..:(...if only he did...it'd have been the best performance of the night...and he didn't even have to do gimmicks like the other singers...oh well, life's full of disappointments...

After that, it was Z-chen (Malaysia)...something went wrong with the music during his performance...so he got fed up and started singing acapella...he sounded good singing Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You...powerful vocals...then it was Sam Lee's turn...i just love his voice..it's so nasal..and yet it sounds so good when he sings..and he's tall...though not too good looking...managed to film most of his performance...hehe...avoided the watchful eyes of the organizers discreetly...next was Kay Tse....she's got a nice voice..better than Fiona Sit's...and her dressing style is quite retro...pretty...

Justin came on next...apparently he's got the most fans among the crowd...though i don't see why... i guess most ppl are into hip-hop these days...then it was Davis Tao's turn...his fan base is quite strong too...really got the crowd going...he sang his new song "An Lian" and his signature "Ai Hen Jia Dan"...finally Joey Yung (HK) came on stage...she was the last performer of the night...by then it was already 1am...and yet the crowd was still going strong...i supposed everyone was waiting for her...though again, i don't see what's the big deal...besides the fact she was pretty...but she did sing the song i like..."Zhe Jiu Shi Ai Ma"...found out that it was written by JJ Lin..cool...

My butt and practically my whole body were aching all over by then...stadium chairs are the most un-ergonomical...and my heels killed my feet...thank God i didn't get the rm400 ticket which would have granted me access to the floor which was a lot nearer to the stage, but would have required me to stand throughout the whole concert...i would have needed both feet amputation if that was the case...next time, i'm gonna wear t-shirt, shorts and slippers to concerts like that...then i can buy the vvip ticket and stand whole night...hehe...

So, i didn't get to watch Khalil sing Wonderful Tonight live...and i didn't get to see him close enough to get him to sign my album...but i still had a marvelous time...i was like an 18 year-old kid again... cat-calling, screaming and wolf-whistling my heart out...it's a good thing that i went alone..no one there knew me anyway..hahaha...HIlton's sponsoring the celebs' accomodation...i'm rather tempted to go stalk Khalil out...hahahaha...yea, wishful thinking...i should just go sleep now and dream that he'd come knocking on my door....hahahaha....sigh..i need help...

Khalil Fong is artist of the month in MYFM

I was doing pm shift in OT today…had a busy locum this morning…patients just kept streaming in..no time to catch up on sleep also..:(…but thankfully OT finished early today…I wanted to do some emergency cases but then turned out there wasn’t any case that could be done…the problem with fasting month…6-8pm is off-limits..well, too bad…lucky me, get to go off early…

Unfortunately, it poured in the evening…so the internet connection at home is down…crap! So I’m actually typing this post offline…was reading a book earlier…but decided to type some posts although I couldn’t go online..i just switched on the radio and tuned to MyFM…and (Squeal!)… Khalil Fong is the artist of the month in MyFM…hehe, means they’ll be playing Khalil’s songs over and over again for the whole month…oh gosh! I wonder if MyFM will have some contest to win some Khalil’s cds and all…though I already bought his Timeless album…hmm, I guess this is going to be a good month after all..;)

Track 8 from Timeless 可啦思刻 - Remember 记得

I've been listening to Khalil's new album Timeless 可啦思刻 (Classical) for the past few days...unlike Orange Moon, i didn't like all the songs in this album...but i like most of them lah...but there's one song which is quite stuck in my head...and i wondered why it is this song...then i realized that perhaps this song made me think of Kheng Wee...about our relationship which ended after 5 long years...i never really knew what went wrong...and i don't remember when did it start going wrong...and this song kind of portray that feeling i had when we said our goodbyes...will once again attempt to translate this song....

我們都忘了 這條路走了多久 (We have already forgotten, how long we've walked this road)
心中是清楚的 有一天有一天都會停的 (It's clear in our hearts, that one day it will end)
讓時間說真話 雖然我也害怕 (Let time reveal the truth, although i'm afraid)
在天黑了以後 我們都不知道會不會有以後 (After the darkness, we don't know if there'll be a future)

*誰還記得 是誰先說永遠的愛我 (Who still remembers, who first said "forever love")
以前的一句話是我們以後的傷口 (Words said in the past wounds us in the future)
過了太久 沒人記得 當初那些溫柔 (After too long, no one remembers the warmth we felt initially)
我和你手牽手說要一起走到最後 (You and I, holding hands, said we'll walk till the end)

我們都累了 卻沒辦法往回走 (We're already tired, there's no way we can turn back)
兩顆心都迷惑 怎麼說怎麼說都沒有救 (Both our hearts are confused, nothing we say can save us)
親愛的為什麼 也許你也不懂 (Why my dear? Perhaps you too do not understand)
兩個相愛的人 等著對方先說想分開的理由 (Two persons who love each other, waiting for the other to first utter the reason for breaking up)

誰還記得 愛情開始變化的時候 (Who still remembers, when did love start to change?)
我和你的眼中看見了不同的天空 (Both our eyes see a different sky)
走得太遠 終於走到分岔路的路口 (We've walked too far, finally we're at a crossroad)
是不是你和我要有兩個相反的夢 (Is it that both of us need to have two contradicting dreams?)

It's a sad song...tragic even..but i guess this is life...things don't always turn out as we dreamed or hoped..but we're human...and we'll always dream and hope...that the next time will be better...

Got the tics to T Music Festival!!!

Ok, will interrupt the Gold Coast series again...too many things happening to distract me...first, i had the worst OT call i ever had yesterday....started from 8am yesterday...worked non-stop until 7am this morning...sent 2 patients to ICU...much to Hoe's dismay...couldn't help it...one was an intra-ab injury with 3L blood loss and queried haemothorax/ lung contusion (whole left lung white out)....another was early this morning...suspected perforated bowel...intra-op turned out to be perforated appendix...with lotsa pus contamination...dilated bowels..unable to close...ended up with Bogota bag...uncle had a right lung pleural effusion...so didn't wanna extubate and send back to ward at 3.30am...thought that was the end of it..but then got perforated gastric ulcer...so i 'bersahur' with the nurses...and then continued with the PGU...ended about 6.30pm...sent patient out...went to sleep about 7am...i couldn't wake up at 8am to pass over to the next person on call...i think i was just mumbling in my sleep when i was passing over..then i collapsed again and slept till 9am plus...felt a bit more awake...so should be able to drive myself home without ending up in my own ICU..thank God for his protection...so Sleepless in Theatre went home...and paid back her sleep debt till 5.30pm just now....

On a brighter note, my bro Simon finally went to Sungai Wang to buy the ticket to T Music Festival for me yesterday....he bought be the RM268 ticket..which i thought was the most expensive tic already...and then he told me there was the RM400 vvip ticket....floor seatings...i was like, hmmm, why didn't you call/msg to ask if i'd prefer that one? coz obviously i'd prefer to have the vvip ticket...anything just to be able to be as close to Khalil as possible yea? anyway, since he bought it already...better than nothing lah...now i really have to hope that myfm will have a contest to win some vvip passes to the T Music Festival...and that i'd be able to call in and win one...oh gosh!!! i can't believe i'll be meeting Khalil again...well, even from far also good enough for me...

Since i'm missing Khalil's Timeless concert in HK today, tomorrow and Saturday, so at least the T Music Festival is a consolation...i'd do prefer to find myself in HK now listening and watching Khalil live....for like 3 hours...just him only...oh well, i'll have to wait for some other crazy Khalil fans to upload onto youtube so i can watch how the concert went...by the way, Jasmine found out that Khalil is actually the artist of the month in Channel V (Squeal!!)...but unfortunately, we don't have astro at our house....if not, i'd have been able to watch Khalil a whole month long on Channel V...hahaha... i sound like some high-school girl high on her crush....

So, while Khalil is performing at the HK Convention Centre singing his songs from the Timeless album and i'm sure, many other of his songs...i'm stuck in my room in KK...listening to his Timeless album again and again...mourning about my being unable to be where he is now...sigh...

Timeless...

I'm interrupting my Gold Coast series with this post...coz i just had to share this one...i'm post call today...had 3 admissions during my call...bad but tolerable call...slept about 3 hours..which was quite good already....came home after pass over round...slept till 5.30pm...then worked out half hour on my elliptical trainer...after i bathed, i was thinking, what should i do tonight...since i'm working pm tomorrow...

So i thought i'd go to CP to check if Khalil's new album Timeless is out in the stores in KK...it was!!!! so i bought it...rm40.90...worth every cent...now i can g
et him to sign my album when i see him in KL next month...hopefully...i mean i'm definitely going for the T Music Festival on 12 Sept 2009...but not sure if i'll get to see him face to face again...hopefully can lah...

So i've been listening to it twice over so far as i'm typing this post...and i don't think i can ever get bored of his music...just a little info..Timeless is Khalil's latest (5th) album...consisting of 10 cover songs...namely:

1. You are the sunshine of my life - originally by Stevie Wonder

2. Nothing's gonna change my love for you - originally by George Benson, popularized by Glen Mederios...Khalil's got an MV for this song...love the MV...
3. Bad - originally by Michael Jackson
4. Kuang Chao - by some chinese singer

5. La Bamba - originally by Ritchie Valens
6. Red bean - originally by Faye Wong...there's also an MV for this song...
7. Georgia on my mind - originally by Ray Charles
8. Remember - originally by A-mei
9. Wonderful Tonight - originally by Eric Clapton
10. Moon river - originally by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tifanny's

Most of the songs were sung by singers who inspired his music...and he really added his own style and flavour into these 10 songs...it's a great album..but i think my favourite will still be his Orange Moon...i'm just so over the moon that i've got his new album...now i'm gonna listen to it a few more times before i drift off into blissful sleep...;)

Oh no!!!...

WTH!!! Khalil's Timeless Live in HK 2009 concert tickets were open for sales yesterday morning since 10am and i only found out about it like more than 12 hours later..dang!!! so much for being his no.1 fan...and i slept my whole Saturday off when i could have bought a tic on a good seat...i'm actually online now checking out his tickets...and the most expensive tickets only left those with side seats and quite far from the stage..:(...

Now i'm contemplating whether i should still just get the HKD480 ticket for 27/8/09 although the best i can get is a side seat and i'd probably only get to see Khalil from like 200m away....and i still need to spend money on buying air tics (that's another rm600)...and spend money for accomodation while i'm in HK (probably another rm600 as well)...so much money just so i can see Khalil sing from maybe 200m away or more...maybe i'm not that crazy after all..maybe i'll just wait till when i go to HK in december..hopefully he'll have another concert when i'm there....but really, Khalil sure has very willing fans...1st day and all the good tickets have been taken...maybe i should have join his fan club earlier and get good tickets when the sales were open to his fan club members.. missed opportunity!!!

Sigh...will Khalil ever hold a concert in Malaysia? I'll definitely be attending it if he ever comes to Malaysia to hold a concert...crap! now i'll lose sleep over this...
