I was glad that i wasn't on call yesterday night...so i decided to go to the last CF meeting of the year...according to the CF FB page, it was Popcorn Wednesday...we were going to watch a movie called "To Save A Life"...i thought i'd go since this might be the last time i'd get to go for CF meetings...once i'm back in hell next year, there's probably no way i'd get to get off work in time for CF meetings...Wednesdays are major ot days...joy...
So after praise and worship, we all settled down on the mat and watched the movie...the movie revolved around this high school basketball player named Jake Taylor whose best friend was Roger Dawson...they grew up together...Roger saved Jake from being run down by a car (which left Roger with a limp)...but freshman year changed their friendship...Jake hung out with the cool kids...while Roger was left out and alone...Roger shot himself in front of everyone in school during his senior year...and that started a change in Jake...who eventually found God in his life...
I thought it was a very good movie...of course i cried as usual...i always enjoy watching how God transforms people to become His vessels to be used for His glory...there was a line that Jake said in the movie: I don't want to be just some Christian...and his youth pastor replied: Good, i don't want you to be just some Christian...that line left quite an imprint...i too, don't want to be just some Christian...but i'm so afraid that if i say that to God, i'll have to go through so much pain in order to not be just come Christian...and God knows how much i fear pain...i know i can't go through my pains alone, Lord...but with You carrying me through, i know it'll be bearable...
These are the thoughts, imaginations, ruminations, complaints, etc. about the life of a girl who thinks too much, whose imagination is too wild for her own good, who ruminates on her personal issues, who complains about her life (or the lack of it)....

。。是否有点狼狈吗? well, this is life, i guess...

love u u
love u u
Stay with me
Stay with me

是你給我...a song from Kung Fu Chefs...
So i managed to finish watching Kung Fu Chefs this morning before i had to catch a plane back to KK...the movie wasn't all that great...as before, if it wasn't for Van Ness Wu, i wouldn't even bother watching...Van Ness was pretty funny in the show...though it was definitely not him speaking Cantonese...and his facial hair...hmmm, i still think he looks better without...
There was a song that played as the credits roll...found out that it was a Van Ness Wu song titled 是你給我...it's a nice song...and i was checking out its lyrics...very very touching and inspirational...i don't know who wrote it...and i know it's a song from a movie...but i think when Van Ness sang it, he was singing it to the Lord...his love song to the Lord...the 你 is God...well, at least when i read the lyrics i thought about God...and how He had helped me to go on..to find myself again...to believe again...
Anyway, here's a link to the song...and the lyrics and translation....

終點究竟會是在哪裡 (where exactly is the final destination?)
有些猶豫是否該前進 (should we go ahead with certain hesitations?)
(You said don't doubt even though the road is arduous)
在下一秒都會變成回憶 (another second all will become memories)
讓我們追尋好的結局 (let us pursue a good ending)
是你給我繼續的勇氣 (it is You who gave me the courage to go on)
決不再輕易放棄 (no longer give up easily)
因為你我會再次去相信 (because of You i will believe once again)
是你給我更多的堅定 it's You who gave me more firm determination)
對未來終於下定了決心 (at last i can make up my mind on my future)
再多困難我也會好好走下去 (even if there's more difficulties i will continue to go on)

Robin Hood
Eric messaged me on gmail asking if i wanna go for Robin Hood...Saturday night show...some other guys were going...so i thought why not? since i was free again this weekend...but i was post call on Saturday...so after morning round, i came home and slept till lunch...then went to Sushi King at Warisan Square for lunch with Siang Lin and Elaine...
Came home and slept...again..hahaha...such a pig...then woke up about 3.30pm and went for a swim with Elaine and Flora at the Likas Aquatic Centre....swam about 1 hour...and developed bodyache... hehe...so damn unfit de...saw some kids training at the lap pool and diving pool...quite cool...then came home and bathed...
Then was rushing to the cinema...thought i was late, but Eric wasn't even there yet...and i saw the poster and realized that Russell Crowe was Robin Hood...i was like, dang!! if i knew i wouldn't have bother to watch...i don't understand the heartthrob status that he has attained...coz i can't see anything so heart-throbbing about him...but anyhow, since i was there, wasn't about to waste the ticket...
So, Robin Hood was alright...enough of action for me...with just the right amount of romantic scenes...and humour...Eric said it was a bit like Gladiator...well, thank God i didn't bother watching that...Robin Hood was basically about who Robin Hood was before he became Robin Hood...and how he met Lady Marion of Loaxley....the Prince (then King) John in this version was as despicable as all the other versions...in this one, Prince John actually locked his English wife out of his room while he was having a good time with his French mistress...what a b******...
But i think my favourite version of Robin Hood is still the cartoon version which i grew up with...the one where all the characters in the cartoon were animals and Robin Hood and Maid Marion were foxes...Little John was a bear...Prince John was a hairless lion and King Richard never died...and the theme song's first line goes like this: Robin Hood and Little John, running through the forest...and then i don't remember the lyrics de...anyway, many may doubt the sincerity of Robin Hood...but to me, he's about as human as a hero can be...

Ip Man 2...and a little bit of a social life...
The past week has actually been quite a free week for me...it wasn't an OT week...and i wasn't on call for a whole 5 days....but i've been quite distracted...you know what they say about you can't run away from your past? it's true...you can't...your past will come back to haunt you and may just well ruin your future...is there any way one can run away from one's past and start life anew?
Anyway, this hermit was having a little bit of social life the past week....Monday night was GA department's farewell dinner for 2 of my former bosses...they are moving on to greener pastures i.e. going to private service...Kean Khang invited me to go so i was the only surgical person there...and i actually met one of my current boss at the restaurant...he was having dinner there as well...dang!! got caught...
Wednesday night i had dinner with Eric...but before that i had to go grocery shopping for my boss...we were organizing a basic surgical skill workshop for the housemen on Friday and Saturday...so he asked me to buy apples, pears, honeydew melon and plastic wrappers...the stuffs were quite heavy and i had to carry them on my own...anyway, dinner with Eric was at this Korean restaurant at Warisan Square...not sure if we were supposed to half the bill...but i kind of assume he was treating since he invited me for dinner...hehe...this hermit has poor social etiquette...
Then Thursday night was movie night....watched Ip Man 2 with Eric, Becky and Nora in 1B...after watching the movie, i felt very patriotic...and racist...it's one of those movies where you feel like standing up and clapping your hands as the credit rolls...if you're going for the storyline, then you'd be disappointed...coz it's pretty much the same as the first installment...they replaced a Japanese nemesis with an airhead English brute of a boxer...but the movie is about Ip Man after all...so who cares about the storyline? Donnie Yen as Ip Man totally beat Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen anyday....I just love the way Donnie Yen fights...he's so graceful it's almost as if he was dancing instead of fighting...nothing brutish...and yet so powerful...
Friday night i was at church attending the opening of the Cutting Edge conference...i'm glad i went despite myself...coz the things that Pastor Sam spoke about really struck a raw chord...he said that we should be angry...at the atrocious wrong doings that are happening around us...and when we're angry, then we should take action to stand up against all these wrong doings...something that Pastor Sam said really spoke to me...he said that the things that God wants us to contend for, we are contented with...the things that God wants us to be contented with, we contend for...i realized how true that is in my life...and God must be so sad when He looks at my life...
I was on call yesterday...yes, labouring on labour day...shall not complain about how tiring it was...i'm just glad i still made it to church this morning..albeit an hour late...was supposed to watch IronMan 2 this afternoon but after lunch with Flora and Elaine at the Manhattan Fish Market, i came home and slept till almost dinner time...i think today is the 'drop your stuffs' day...my front car plate fell off while i was driving back from 1B...saw another car plate on the road along the way...and saw a shoe on the road just before i reach home...
Dang! now i have to drive without my car plate...need to pick Jasmine up from the airport...hopefully won't get stopped by the police...not sure when i'll have time to get a new one fixed...oh well...one day at a time...one day at a time...

A twist of fate....
I was expecting today to be just another boring Wednesday where i'll laze around at home...no offense to people with active social lives but i actually like lazing around at home doing nothing... but just when i was about to have lunch (we were having ready made spagetthi carbonara at home), Twink called me and asked me if i wanted to catch a movie...she wanted to watch Valentine's Day...i was like...er...i'm not really in the mood for a Valentine movie...i'd rather be watching Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief...
So i checked the movie schedules...initially we were supposed to watch at mid valley but apparently Twink drove past mid valley and saw that the parking areas were all full...so change of venue..she suggested Tropicana City Mall...they were playing Valentine's Day at 355pm and Percy Jackson at 440pm...since Twink wanted to watch Valentine's Day so she said she'll come pick me up about 315pm...and i dragged Pei along since she hasn't been to Tropicana City Mall as well...
Twink came to pick us up about 320pm...and she was driving happily to Tropicana City Mall untill we reached Jaya One and then she was like...OH NO!!! i drove to the wrong mall...and we all burst out laughing....hahahaha...apparently Twink thought Tropicana City Mall was where Jaya One was... so we were trying to find our way to the real Tropicana...Twink called Rudi aka the boyfriend for directions..no luck there...she called her dad...no luck there as well...so we were driving around and suddenly we saw banners showing Tropicana City Mall...
So we followed the banners and managed to reach there about 405pm...got to the GSC but by the time we got to the ticket counters it was too late for Valentine's Day...yes!!!! so we had to watch Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief after all...prior to going out, i actually typed in my FB status that i was going for Valentine's Day...God help me!!! so He heard my call for help after all....thank You Lord...anyway, Percy Jackson wasn't that great...acting was awkward...lines were cliche...but interesting lessons on Greek Mythology...
After that, Twink dropped us off to meet my family for dinner at Midah....then Kit Yin called to go for a drink...but we ended up just chatting at my place...it was good to catch up with old friends...then i came online and saw all my inquisitive guy friends leaving comments on my FB status...from wishing me good luck to asking me who's the guy...seriously, if i was going for a belated Valentine's day date, would i bother announcing on FB? i didn't even realize my status implied anything of that sort...and i thought i was the one with wild imagination...
Anyway, it's time to go back to KK tomorrow evening...sigh...i haven't had enough of staying at home and doing nothing yet...oh well, life goes on...just have to grit my teeth and work through each day till my next holiday...whenever that will be...

My Sister's Keeper
I've just finished reading Jodi Picoult's "My Sister's Keeper"....been reading it since Taipei...but only managed to finish it today, while lying on my bed, drenching my pillow...and i was right...Hollywood has once again distorted the whole book...really, these days, you can't expect to answer someone who asks you "have you read the book?" with a "oh, i've watched the movie"....and still be discussing about the same story...coz chances are, the book-reader and the movie-watcher would be talking about 2 different stories...i think i'll stick to reading original books...and watching original movies...
It's one thing to drop a character or two...or change a male judge to a female judge...or change a pyromaniac elder brother to a dyslexic one...but to kill off the wrong sister in the end? you might as well call the movie by a different name and claim it as original screenplay...it's not like i didn't like the movie...i did...it was a good movie...the actors played their roles very well...i just don't like the idea of Hollywood misleading people to think that what they watched would equal to what they would have read (but which they didn't)...it's like Hansel and Gretel being lured by the witch to her candy-bejewelled house only for them to find out they'd be burnt in the furnace as food for the witch... ok, maybe my analogue is a bit off...but you get the picture...
So just a short synopsis about My Sister's Keeper (the original book version)...Anna (short for Andromeda) was genetically engineered to be a perfect donor match for her elder sister Kate... Kate was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia at age 3...Anna became stem cells donor for Kate at birth...and continued to donate more blood products and bone marrow throughout her childhood...Anna at age 13 is required to donate her kidney to Kate (now a miraculous survivor of APML at age 16) who has end-stage renal failure due to all her previous treatments...but Anna didn't want to do be a donor anymore...so she filed a lawsuit against her parents for medical emancipation...
I loved this book....it may not be a real life story...but the characters portrayed by the author are so realistic...so human...i hardly cried though...which is a good measure of how real this book is...i only cry when reading unrealistic stuffs...but i cried at the end when Anna died...she fought all the way to get herself medically emancipated from her parents and won...but she still lost to Death...the one whom everyone thought would die, didn't...but i guess that's life...always throwing the unexpected your way...i feel for Anna...it must be horrible to live a life defined by your elder sister...where you're only needed to save your sister's life...yea, sounds very magnanimous and all...but put yourself in Anna's shoes...it's easy to have magnanimous thoughts when you can't be the donor...it's not so easy when you are the only perfect matched donor...if i were Anna, i'd hate my parents for putting me through all those invasive procedures just for the sake of my sick sister...it's like, in that family, if you're not sick to the point of dying, then you don't count...
I think i'll start collecting Jodi Picoult's books...they're interesting reads...definitely worth the investment...if you're a reader...then skip the movie...

The Ugly Truth...
So i'm post call today...slept about 5.30am...till almost 8am...passed over to the person on call today and went home...slept till about 12pm...Elaine called...saying that she and Siang Lin were already in 1 Borneo...so i dragged my groggy self off the bed and bathed...i don't think i really slept well...i was just kind of hovering at the sub-conscious level...being aware of the slightest sound and movement... still i wasn't going to pass the chance to watch Gerard Butler in The Ugly Truth...oh, and as i was rushing out of the house, i saw a package for me...Jasmine must have received it while i was sleeping... squeal!! so happy!!!.:)..don't usually receive packages...
Reached 1 Borneo about 1.30pm...we had Bak Kut Teh for lunch...haven't tasted Bak Kut Teh in a while...movie was at 2.45pm...so we still had time to shop around...found myself a nice bedsheet...and Elaine always managed to buy herself something whenever she goes shopping...we went into the cinema just a bit after 2.45pm...GSC always have 15 mins of advertisement before the movie starts...oh, and they were showing the trailer on M Night Shyamalam's new movie...The Last Airbender...it's an adaptation from the anime...Pei's gonna be so excited about this...it's a must watch...hehe...
So, The Ugly Truth...i was actually hoping i wouldn't fall asleep coz i was still quite sleepy...well, i needn't have worried...it was so hilarious that i was practically laughing from the start till the end of the movie...er, laughing would actually be an understatement, i think i totally annoyed everyone in the theatre...but the lines were so funny... Gerard Butler is so good acting as an asshole....and Katherine Heigl is the perfect Ms Control Freak...and i initially thought the 'check-list' guy (don't know the actor's name) was actually gay...apparently he was not...but it's really enjoyable watching how Gerard Butler taught Katherine Heigl how to 'snag' her 'check-list' guy...and Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler's character) is so spot on about women... unfortunately, most of us don't look like Katherine Heigl...and none of us will ever meet a Mike Chadway who can help us win the heart of our 'check-list' guy (who'd most likely turn out to be gay) by not being our real selves i.e. the control-freak, OCD, over-whiney, over-complaining, over-sticky, over-ambitious bitch etc etc...plus, there'll never be enough Mike Chadways to go around falling for all of us anyway...and THAT is The Ugly Truth...
Sigh, i can so identify with Katherine Heigl's character, Abby...the control-freak nature...the check-list...the being so unapproachable...the comfortable and conventional dressing...and the cat...hahaha..ok, i don't belong to a cat (becoz i'm allergic to furs) but that's quite remediable...and i can just imagine myself ending up like the old cat lady who's generally harmless but is very weird and eccentric...so i was thinking, if someone as good-looking as Katherine Heigl's character is still single, no wonder there're so many of us single girls around...and our fault is really this...wanting to be loved for who we are by a man who fulfills our 'check-list'...not a very fair deal for men...being loved by a perfect man for being imperfect? and the ugly truth is, there is no perfect man...nor a perfect woman...
But then again, we always expect a happy ending...and Hollywood almost always never fails to give us one...at least in The Ugly Truth, the ending is believable...i love the part when they were stuck on the hot air balloon and Mike told Abby that he was in love with her and all she heard was everything else but that...yea, i did shed a tear or two...that's like a given...oh, and i've got another (imaginary) wedding photos scene in mind now....me and my groom...on a hot air balloon...hahaha...yup, i need a Mike Chadway to knock some Ugly Truths into my skewed hopeless romantic mind....

My Best Friend's Girl..
I'm glad i'm not on call today...so i could sleep late yesterday night..though i woke up early this morning to send my other housemate Hema to the airport..she's going to Manado...for a week..for diving.. lucky her...came back and slept again till 11am plus...it's good to be able to wake up late on a weekend....it's hard to come by...finally dragged myself out of bed and went downstairs to work on my elliptical trainer...
Jasmine came back from her call already...and she was watching 'My Best Friend's Girl'...so i watched while working out...by the time the show ended, i was still so engrossed in the movie..but as expected, Jasmine has already dozed off...the poor girl had a busy call the night before..hardly slept...
Anyway, something about the movie...it's about this guy called Tank...who's a great asshole...and ppl hire him to date their ex-gfs so that the girls will realized how 'good' their ex-bfs were compared to the 'asshole' Tank...but he's not really an asshole...though he can be very good at being one...then his best friend Dustin hired Tank to 'terrorize' Alexis (the object of Dustin's infatuation)..it happened that Alexis turned out to like Tank..despite him being an asshole...and this Alexis is not your regular slut or anything close ok? she's like this disciplined, high achiever, OCD, control freak, alpha dog, crazy cyborg kind of girl...so anyhow, as expected...Tank and Alexis ended up together..
strange though..i didn't cry...though i practically cried at every movie..
Makes me wonder, what is it about guys like Tank that makes girls like Alexis like them? i mean, anyone in her right mind would be so turned off by an asshole yea? and Alexis can get any guy she wants...i mean, anyone who looks like Kate Hudson can get any guy she wants...but i guess that's Hollywood for you...but then again, there may be some truth in it...maybe that's why sometimes we see nice girls falling for assholes...of course in this movie, we don't know how it would be like 10 years down the road...if there was a 10 years down the road for that couple...but in real life, i guess that translates to the high divorce rate we have these days...sigh...Lord, please do not let me fall for an asshole...please please please...amen...

UP!!
I just came back from watching 'Up' with Kean Khang, Haizar and Soo...it was quite a spontaneous decision...Kean Khang bumped into me in the MO room after he finished premed and asked if i wanted to watch 'Up'...of course i did...i watched the trailer the last time i was in the cinema and i thought it must be a really cute and funny cartoon...
So anyway, it was a really good cartoon...the beginning was really funny...though i don't think it had whatsoever relation to the actual movie...and the actual beginning of the movie is so sweet...it's kinda like a fast forward version of Carl and Ellie's love life...sigh..i love the notion of couples growing old together...but then Ellie died and Carl was left all alone...so he decided to go on the adventure to Paradise Falls that he had promised Ellie but didn't manage to do while she was still alive...then came along Russell...the fat Asian looking boy who stumbled onto Carl's porch...reluctantly, Carl had to include Russell into his adventure...and together, they sure did have a great adventure...
I actually cried and laughed so much..well, laughed more than cried lah...it's really a touching and funny story...if you have kids, they'd love it...i for one, am glad that i went to watch 'Up'...the movie was great...and so was the company...

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...
So i dragged myself out of bed this morning and went to church...a bit late...but i made it there...i guess i was glad that i went...Pastor said a few things that kinda touched my heart...or perhaps being in the presence of God always bring tears to my eyes...
Anyway, had dim sum at Pacific Sutera for lunch...then went to watch the latest Harry Potter instalment...the Half Blood Prince...well...one word...draggy...it lasted almost 2 1/2 hours...and i was glad when it was over...coz i really needed to go to the bathroom...i guess this one tried to stick as closely to the book as possible...they got the gist of it...but somehow, it lacked the excitement i experienced when i was reading the book...i mean, i probably took a few days to finish the book...but i wanted to keep reading coz the way the plot unfolded kept me on the edge...perhaps since i already know the story, it has lost its excitement and i kept wondering when was it going to end...and i didn't even cry when Dumbledore died...i cried when i read the book...i think..it was quite a long time ago...my memory's getting a bit fuzzy...
Few things i found quite nauseating though...the Ron and that girl (can't remember her name..no not Hermione..the other desperate one...) and all their snogging....and the Cormac trying to get Hermione's attention scenes...eeww!!! Luna Lovegood was an interesting character though...love her fashion sense, hehe...and at the end...when Dumbledore was killed...i thought i remembered that Harry was petrified which was why he couldn't do anything to help Dumbledore...and when Dumbledore died, the spell was broken then only Harry was free to go after Severus Snape and the rest of the Death Eaters...but then again, perhaps my memory is failing me....
Still, i guess if you are a Potter fan, you'd still have watched it at least once...though i still prefer the book...and when the last instalment finally opens in the cinema, i'm sure i'll still go watch it even if i may get disenchanted again...
Just a bit off track...saw the Twilight Saga: The New Moon's trailer while waiting outside the cinema...dang! they changed the scene where Laurent (and i never knew he was black) was trying to attack Bella...they were supposed to be in some clearing..not outside Jacob's house...and i take it back...the actor who plays Edward Cullen...doesn't justify the character's supposed gorgeousness...i guess only a real vampire can look as good as Edward Cullen..hehe...

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
Yea, i've finally just watch Transformers 2 for the 1st time...i was getting comments from people..like, which part of the world you're in lah? still haven't watch Transformers 2?....i know people who've watched it at least twice...and i've also been given advice to save my 10 bucks and just give the show a miss...well, i finally got a free Saturday today...so why not Transformers 2? it was either that...or ice age 3, or obsessed...i think some people actually think i should have gone for ice age 3 instead, hehe...I know what you're thinking...you're thinking, finally, she's posting about something besides work...she does have a life outside work after all, hahahaha...so how did i like Transformers 2?...i think i'm having mixed feelings about this one...and there's a strange sense of deja vu hovering over me as i walked out of the cinema...i mean, it was just like the previous one...same cast (except for an additional annoying human, a hot crazy bitch of a decepticon, and a few new robots)...same plot..same place of showdown (the poor egyptians always have to bear the brunt)..and didn't Optimus died and was resurrected in the 1st instalment as well?..and i guess the transformation becomes a bit less impressive the second time round...and as usual when the autobots and decepticons are in a chaos of fight amidst all the missile attacks, i can never tell who's who...so much for my power of observation....
Anyhow, i was wondering why Jetfire (the oldie decepticon turned good robot) had so many metal chains down his face....then i realized those were his beard...haha, good one...and why is Optimus Prime the Primes' descendents when he looks nothing like them? the Primes have an uncanny resemblance to the Fallen...and did anyone notice that in the scene after the Fallen was defeated and Megatron and Starscream have fled like the chicken they were, where there was a footage of the Sphinx (i think), there was a bird (or maybe a chicken) on the Sphinx's nose? it was pretty distracting...coz i think there was something else going on in that scene but i can't seem to remember what...
So yea, no more second helpings for me for this one... i think if they are coming up with Transformers 3, maybe they should think of more substantial plots and subplots...and a new place to fight in...i mean, leave the Arabs in peace already....

Slumdog Millionaire...
I decided to do a movie marathon today...what better than to catch up with new movies on a lazy Sunday afternoon yea? and i've been wanting to watch Slumdog Millionaire ever since it came out... there was so much buzz around that movie...as if Hollywood has never come up with a more bizarre movie than this one...
It's interesting how the movie opened with a "Who wants to be a millionaire" type of question about how Jamal Malik, an uneducated young man from the slum of Bombay won 20 million rupees in "Who wants to be a millionaire"...and the ending gave the answer, D. it is written. it reminded me of 'The Alchemist' where the word 'maktub' was used very often...and the word was loosely translated as 'it is written'...
Jesus said that "blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven...blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted...blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth..." Matthew 5:3-5...and i think this truth was demonstrated in Jamal's life in the movie (though Jamal is a Muslim)...only God can do such a miracle and make him know and choose the correct answer every single time...God chose the weak to triumph over those who think they are stronger and better...
I think there's a Jamal in all of us...who is willing to go through shit just to get what he has dreamt of (like when he jumped into the shithole so he could get to Amitabh Bachan to get his autograph)... who would risk his life for someone he loves (like how he went back to look for Latika even though the gangleader was looking for him)...and who is willing to take the chance for a better future (like how he joined the gameshow so that he could find his girl)...
But i think while Jamal is the idealistic hero, his brother, Salim was also a hero in his own ways...he may not have always did the right things and i'm sure many who have watched the movie despised his character...but he did love and protect his brother from the gangleader...and in the end, he let Latika go so she could be with Jamal...
Anyway, talking about quizzes..i remembered when i was back in form 6, Kian Ming and i entered a science quiz which was held in Victoria Institution...of course there was no 1 million ringgit to be won...in fact whatever money we won went to our school...but the point was...we won..and for me, that itself was a miracle...coz like Jamal, i probably had the incredulous look on my face each time a question was posted to me...why? coz i knew the answer to every question...and so did Kian Ming, i think...ah...the taste of winning...such sweet victory...sigh...i missed my school days...

Marley and Me
Had a really long morning on Friday...went to work at 8am (ok, well, was like 10 mins late)...had to escort a ventilated patient from medical ICU to SMC for MRI brain..then had to escort the same patient for tracheostomy...thank God we could do it in the emergency OT in SMC...if not, it would have meant extra transfer being done...it didn't help that the stupid lift in Queen was on 'holiday' again...by the time we came back to ICU, it was almost 1pm...all i could feel was sleepy...and then i remembered..crap!!! forgot to do a chest x-ray for the patient before bringing her back to ward...argh!!! and as expected, boss asked...chest x-ray? i was too tired to answer...
Went for a movie with Sharon after work...we watched 'Marley and Me'...read the book before..so thought it'd be nice to check out the movie as well...wasn't too impressed at the beginning..Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston aren't exactly my favourites...but Marley came along and just stole my heart...i think despite being the world's worst dog, Marley the labrador 'evader' is really the hero of the movie...
I've never had a pet that i got really attached to...had a tortoise that died after a week...we had a cat for a while when i was still in high school...she was a stray who just came into our house one day...we just called her 'ah meow'...she was never allowed into the house..though she tried everyday to get in..if she did, we'd chase her out...my bro is asthmatic..and i'm actually allergic to fur...so we fed her..bathed her like really occasionally..i did scratch ah meow's chin and rub her belly...watched her gave birth to litters of kitten (and cruelly separate her babies from her)...mom and dad tried to get rid of her once or twice..they took her to the marketplace at the next neighbourhood...but she found her way back both times...i guess she just knew where her home was...but the third time my parents sent her off...she didn't come back...i always wondered if she didn't come back because she died or maybe she just knew she wasn't really wanted anymore...
I've never wanted a pet since..but after watching 'Marley and Me'...it kinda moved me a little to think about the idea...i have plenty of reasons why i shouldn't have a pet...i'm allergic to fur, i'm busy working..no time to house-train,feed,bathe,play with the pet...but i think those are just excuses.. coz the main reason is probably that i fear the thought of losing a beloved pet...like Paulo Coelho said in 'The Alchemist', hearts don't like to suffer...so if i don't have a pet, i won't suffer from losing a pet...but then i also miss out on having been loved by my pet unconditionally...
