My best birthday present ever...

So i was up in Genting on Saturday for Khalil's Timeless in Malaysia concert....Mom and Petrina went up with me...I got up about lunch time, finished packing and went for lunch...Dad dropped us off at KL Sentral to get the bus up to Genting...but all the tickets were sold out and the earliest bus we could get was at 4pm...i was like dang!!! so we called the Gombak station to ask if there were still tickets for the 2pm bus...thank God they still had tickets....so we took the LRT to Terminal Putra to catch the 2pm bus...

Mom met a friend in the bus...when we reached the Awana Skyway, the queue was so ridiculously long that i thought we'd never make it up to Genting...but God really provided a smooth passageway for us coz Mom's friend had this Genting member card that allowed us to go into the express lane...so we were checked into our hotel room about 330pm...Mom and Petrina went roaming around while i rested in the room...

Started preparing for the concert at 5pm...was ready by 6pm...then went for dinner with Mom and Petrina...was waiting for the HK girl Karen to appear...by 730pm she still hasn't reach the Arena of Stars...and it was raining cats and dogs earlier...i was quite worried that she would be late for the concert...but thankfully she reached at about 750pm...so i gave her the ticket, collected the money and went into the concert hall...

The concert hall was pretty packed already by the time we went in...the concert didn't start too late... at 815pm, Andrew Tan (Malaysian singer) came out as the opening act...he sang one of his new song "Tian Hou"...and then Khalil came on stage and the crowd (including yours truly) went wild...hehe...this time round, he sang more English songs...totally loved his Stevie Wonder impersonation...he sang his favourites like "Superstitious", "Sir Duke"...even put on his shades...

Khalil played a lot of guitar, quite a bit of the keyboard and the grand piano...he even did some drums for his encore...i just love Khalil on the piano...too bad the piano was at the other corner of the stage...so could hardly see him when he was playing the piano...even Edward Chan played the piano...but i can't seem to remember which song he played...Khalil played and sang on the piano a few songs..."Nan Yin", "Ji De" and Singalong Song...

I was screaming and hooting like a crazy infatuated teenager throughout the concert...i think i totally irked the aunty who was sitting beside me...not to mention i was singing along with Khalil...of course when he walked towards my side of the stage i went wild...hehe...first row seat is really a whole new experience...when Khalil ended his repertoire with his song "Sorry", i was like what? NOOO!!!! don't!!! of course he came back on stage for his encore...but really, almost 3 hours of Khalil is still too little...of course as usual, he kept forgetting his lyrics...but it's still cool...

I saw Hermond (Warner Music Malaysia's GM) and Howard (also from Warner Music Malaysia) during and after the concert...but i guess they weren't going to ask me to go for the celebration party...so sad...wished i had the "All Access" pass...then i could have gone backstage to see Khalil...but in all, it was still my best birthday present ever...:) anyway, Petrina told me The Star reviewed his concert...here's the link to the article..

Robin Hood

Eric messaged me on gmail asking if i wanna go for Robin Hood...Saturday night show...some other guys were going...so i thought why not? since i was free again this weekend...but i was post call on Saturday...so after morning round, i came home and slept till lunch...then went to Sushi King at Warisan Square for lunch with Siang Lin and Elaine...

Came home and slept...again..hahaha...such a pig...then woke up about 3.30pm and went for a swim with Elaine and Flora at the Likas Aquatic Centre....swam about 1 hour...and developed bodyache... hehe...so damn unfit de...saw some kids training at the lap pool and diving pool...quite cool...then came home and bathed...

Then was rushing to the cinema...thought i was late, but Eric wasn't even there yet...and i saw the poster and realized that Russell Crowe was Robin Hood...i was like, dang!! if i knew i wouldn't have bother to watch...i don't understand the heartthrob status that he has attained...coz i can't see anything so heart-throbbing about him...but anyhow, since i was there, wasn't about to waste the ticket...

So, Robin Hood was alright...enough of action for me...with just the right amount of romantic scenes...and humour...Eric said it was a bit like Gladiator...well, thank God i didn't bother watching that...Robin Hood was basically about who Robin Hood was before he became Robin Hood...and how he met Lady Marion of Loaxley....the Prince (then King) John in this version was as despicable as all the other versions...in this one, Prince John actually locked his English wife out of his room while he was having a good time with his French mistress...what a b******...

But i think my favourite version of Robin Hood is still the cartoon version which i grew up with...the one where all the characters in the cartoon were animals and Robin Hood and Maid Marion were foxes...Little John was a bear...Prince John was a hairless lion and King Richard never died...and the theme song's first line goes like this: Robin Hood and Little John, running through the forest...and then i don't remember the lyrics de...anyway, many may doubt the sincerity of Robin Hood...but to me, he's about as human as a hero can be...

My 1st row ticket...:)

Another courier came for me today...of course i've been expecting it all day...i'm actually on call today...but at least the expectation of my parcel made that more bearable...had quite a few referrals...but otherwise i wasn't too busy...the courier guy called me about lunch time that he was at my house but of course no one was at home...so i asked him if he could deliver it to the hospital... so at about 355pm, Fanny, boss' PA called me saying that there was a parcel for me at the office...
Totally brightened my day...quickly went to get it and opened it...YES!!! my 1st row ticket to Khalil's Timeless in Malaysia concert...and 2 of Khalil's concert posters..:) i just checked the seat plan...my seat is actually quite to the left corner of the stage...but it doesn't matter...it's still 1st row...hopefully the grand piano which Khalil will play on is on the left side of the stage...then i'll get to see him better...hehe...

So now i actually have an extra VIP ticket to the concert...i put a comment on one of Khalil's FB fan page to ask if anyone was interested to buy the ticket...it's RM323...13th row from the stage...right of the stage...nearer to the centre than my VVIP seat...and believe it or not, a girl from HK actually messaged me on FB and said she was interested to go for the concert...Khalil really has very willing fans...anyway, she hasn't really got back to me to confirm if she really wanted the ticket...so if you're a Khalil fan, and you're quite desperate for a VIP ticket, please leave your email address in your comment....i'll get back to you asap...

Whatever happened to chivalry?

I was supposed to be on call today...but another colleague changed his call with mine...so this week i'm actually quite free...till Friday...this morning was scope day...didn't get to do any OGDS...but saw lots of colonoscopy...we finally finished about 1.30pm...i was so hungry by then...although i hardly did anything...hehe...

After lunch the bosses were having viva for the HOs...i was settling the OT list for the visiting surgeons to Beaufort Hospital...then a colleague of mine walked in with 3 volumes of a patient's file...she said, "for mortality meeting"...great!!! 3 thick volumes to summarize...which i managed to before the bosses finished with their viva...

I followed boss' car to Queen so he offered to send me back to SMC to get my car...so there i was, carrying 3 thick files, walking with him to the carpark, which is about 3 mins walk...i think i was actually huffing and puffing while i was walking...but he only bothered to ask if i wanted him to help me carry the files when we were about 100m from his car...really, whatever happened to chivalry? not that i really expect guys to help me carry heavy stuffs...i'm quite the feminist...and i'm more than able to carry them...but really, chivalry is an extinct word in these modern days...

Came home feeling so sleepy...almost dozed off in the car a few times while i was driving back...thank God nothing happened...slept about 1 hour before i woke up for dinner...as usual, yoghurt and cereal...now i'm feeling sleepy again...yawn...

A surprise package....

Got a call from the courier man this morning as i was going to clinic...apparently there was a package for me...so he asked me where i would be and i asked him to come to the clinic....so about 11am, the nurse asked me to go to the counter coz there was a package for me...it was quite a big one...but quite light...kinda figured out that there were flowers inside....but i was busy seeing patients so i didn't get to open it till clinic ended...

So i opened the box and found a bouquet of white lilies with a card in it...but there was no sender...but i kind of figured out who sent the flowers...and my colleagues and bosses were teasing me and speculating about who the sender was...damn paiseh lah...unfortunately it wasn't from the person i hoped it was...what was i thinking, the person i hoped it was would never send me flowers...hahahaha...

Anyway, thanks for the lilies...it was a nice gesture...this was definitely the first time i've ever received flowers at work...but actually, i prefer flowers where they are growing....
